Role: Field Interviewer
Training Dates: July 2026
Training Mode: A combination of in-person training, asynchronous self-paced online learning, and synchronous online training
Production Dates: now through October 2026
Required Availability: available to work a minimum of 25 hours per week
Pay rate and Differentials: The pay rate is $26.00 per hour, which includes a $3 screening differential, and staff who complete language certification for reading and speaking will receive an additional $2/hour language differential.
Data Collection Mode: Face-to-face
Required Qualifications and Duties:
Work a minimum of 25 hours per week, most of these hours will be worked on weekends (Sat and/or Sun) and weekday evenings (4-8 pm).
Attend training in Michigan in July 2026
Attend weekly team meetings, typically held on weekdays during business hours.
Have the flexibility in your schedule to adjust your work times to meet the needs of study participants.
Attend all training sessions and successfully complete all certifications. All training time is paid.
This project requires you to knock on doors and conduct interviews for the New York City Housing and Vacancy Survey. You must be prepared to explain the reason for your visit, quickly establishing rapport. In addition to doorstep screening, you will conduct interviews in study participants' homes.
A valid driver’s license, up-to-date insurance, and access to reliable private transportation. (Subways, buses, taxis, and ride shares like Uber or Lyft are not considered private transportation.) On occasion, you may need to be able to drive up to 30 miles one way to a participant’s home. Staff who are primarily working in Manhattan and a few other areas may be exempt from this requirement.
Ability to traverse several blocks at a time, including ascending and descending stairs, and transporting study equipment and materials.
Must reside in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, Western Nassau County or Northeast New Jersey
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with in-home data collection, direct sales, doorstep, or political canvassing
Comfort using a laptop with MS Windows
