Many teens do not fully understand how dangerous fentanyl is. More than half of eighth graders did not believe trying fentanyl once or twice was very risky, even though it is involved in most teen overdose deaths. These findings highlight the need to raise awareness and improve education so teens understand the serious risks of fentanyl and the danger of counterfeit pills that may contain it.
Awareness gap: Teens underestimate fentanyl threat
