M-Panel - Project Overview
M-Panel is the new University of Michigan National Survey Panel, a nationally-recruited U.S. online probability sample of respondents. Panel members will participate in multiple investigators’ surveys across a range of topics. Coverage spans the 50 United States-including Alaska and Hawaii-with a large oversample in Michigan. Calling will focus on evenings and weekends.
An invitation letter, a text, and a postcard asking the recipient to complete a web screener, will be sent. The randomly-selected Respondent, 18+ years of age and a resident of the household, will be asked to complete a 15-minute Profile survey (one-time “Recruitment”), for which they will receive a $20 ToA and an invitation to join the Panel. M-Panel members will be invited to complete every-three-month 15-minute web surveys (“Omnibus”) and receive $15 per completed survey.
SSL Interviewers will be calling members of the approximately 78,000 recruited participants who have not completed their web screener/profile after the study communications are sent, to remind them to complete. SSL Interviewers will also be calling non-completing members (expected to be 1,000-2,000 Rs) of the Omnibus panel quarterly to remind them to complete.
Recruitment calling will be conducted from end August to end December 2026. Omnibus calling begins at the end September 2026, to continue quarterly in 2027 and continues, ongoing.
Please note that if you are assigned to the August training date, you will be trained in both Recruitment and Omnibus tasks and will also need to attend the Omnibus training. If you are assigned to the September Recruitment training date, you will not need to attend the Omnibus training.
