Welcome to the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research, Survey Research Center Interviewer and School Researcher recruitment website.

On this website you will find information about the Field Interviewer and Survey Technician positions and details about open positions for active projects.

Prior to beginning, review each of the steps below. Note, the application process takes approximately 45 minutes from start to finish. Please follow all directions because incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

1. Select Job Descriptions from the list on the left side of this page to review the position you are interested in. If you are applying for a Field Interviewer or Survey Technician position, view the Video A Day in the Life. If you are applying for a position on the Health and Retirement Study (HRS), also view the Video – Physical Measurements.  Both the Day in the Life and Physical Measurements videos are located on the left side of this page.
2. After reading the job description, select Project Listing. On the project listing page, choose a project you are interested in applying for to review the description, job requirements, and training information.
3. After reviewing the project, select Create an Account located in the upper right hand corner of the page. If you already have already created an account, select Login also located in the upper right hand corner of the page.
4. Select Begin Screening at the bottom of the project description page.  This will be located in the right hand corner. Once you have created an account you will answer a series of screening questions and complete an employment application. The last step in the process is to upload a cover letter and resume. You can do this by selecting >>Attach Resume<< located in the upper right hand side of the page. Please note, resumes are optional and resumes alone will not be reviewed without applicants completing the screening and full application process.
5. After answering screening questions, completing an employment application and uploading a resume (optional), select the Frequently Asked Questions tab on the left hand side of your screen.
6. Locate the ISR/SRC information button on the left side of the screen to learn more about the Institute for Social Research (ISR) and the Survey Research Center (SRC). SRC is the largest center at ISR. SRC employs hundreds of field Interviewers across the United States and telephone Interviewers in Ann Arbor.
